Title: Top posters (revised 12-23-07)
Post by GMO on 01/22/07 at 14:07:11

January 22, 2007

Because I'm always interested in Top 10 lists, here are -- by number of posts -- the top 10 in the FFG forums.  (Note: this includes all of the forums, but judging by a look at the numbers, I think TI3 and its PBeMs have the most prolific posters.)

1. Mike Evans                2882
2. Paul Lazax                2307
3. Pandy                     2167
4. Lothar of the Hill People 2050
5. Eppic                     1900
6. orc conquest              1813
7. Chrissaril                1726
8. Mike Zebrowski            1721
9. sigmazero13               1614
10. Trevelyan                1602

The "youngest" of these -- by far -- is sigmazero13; he's only been on the boards about seven months.  He's a good role model for the rest of us up-and-comers.  And a couple of these guys aren't on the TI3 boards much (if at all).

Perhaps some of you newly-minted FFG Gods are wondering how far away you are from the top 10?  Wonder no longer:

49. Hyperturtle               540
52. B0RG                      529
55. Eternal                   506
56. Phil                      501
57. robofish                  475 (knockin' on the door)

And then there's me:

123. GMO                      225 (woo-hoo!)

Posts Per Day is probably a better way of tracking "top posters"

Title: Re: Top posters
Post by Umbratus on 01/22/07 at 14:32:54

If I'd play my A Game of Thrones pbems here on the board too, I had like a couple of thousand posts ;D

My ~900 posts are all on topics to (strategy) discussions and rule clarifications, mostly on AGOT of course ;)  Is there a Top10 for that too ? :)

You're certainly welcome to comb through each profile for that info, if you'd like.   ;)

No there seems to be no way to separate out such specific information.  These post numbers are from any page anywhere on FFG.

Im not sure Im sad or happy not to be on that list.. nehe, jess' kiddin'

ps; brillant topic. Totally meaningless, but brilliant!  8-)

And I think almost everyone in the top 8 except Pandy (England) and Eppic (The Great White North) have met each other at one time or another. Geography has certainly played a role in that. Evans and Chrissaril live in Indiana; Lazax was born in Indiana and lives in Ohio on the border; Lothar and Orc both live in southern Michigan and at least one of them has lived in Ohio; and Zebrowski works for FFG in Minnesota and runs the Mega Twilight game at GenCon in Indy each year.

We've unofficially dubbed the 1000-post level as the Get a Life Club. We really need to come up with a name for us 2000-post guys.

8-)

Well, I would sign a petition to award each of those an extra star, at the very least.  It doesn't feel right that I, at a quarter of those posts, am ranked as divine as the top 10.  (At least, it wouldn't if I took it seriously...  :-[ heheh.)
(I do so have a life!)
(At least, for another 460 or so posts...)

So these numbers show that those of us in the mid-west United States (other than a couple exeptions) are the ones who really need a life?   I'm another Minnesotan.  Maybe these numbers simply confirm what we've known for a long time ... :)

My son asked me who my favorite player was.
I said Mike Evans.
He asked if he played for the Pacers.
I said: Well...kind of.
Just another example of generation gap. ;)

Now I get it!
I lived 5 years in Michigan and now it's catching up to me :o :o :o

Chris and other friends, can you imagine Mike in a Pacer's jersey dunking the ball?  ::)

;D

Personally, the last time time I could dunk was back in '91 and that was only a women's basketball, not the full-sized men's ball. My knees and ankles would rebel at the thought of me trying to pull that off now-a-days.

Fort Wayne, not too far off.

I oftentimes play with Mike and Chris at Mike's place.

Serdudds came down from South Bend for my February game (Pro Bowl Imperium). Maybe you could carpool to Death, Taxes and Twilight in late April.
I live in Harrison, Ohio.

Not to mention I will be going to death and taxes and will be going through Ft Wyane on my way.  (though I will be dropping my family off in Columbus Ohio).

Love to, though I doubt I'd stand much of a chance against you lot. Not that it matters, a good game is hard to come by and I always welcome a challenge. PM me with the details.

And Bismark66 lives in Columbus, OH, so maybe that'll be an excuse for him to ride along. ;)

Well, if we get enough guys here (already expecting 8+) we could either try to get a huge game going, or split up into multiple simultaneous games. I could easily move things around so as to have three games going on in adjacent rooms.

If we end up with just one game, I'd be very pleased to finish in the top 4. :)

One option would be to dual map a 5 player game...

March 5, 2007

Here's an update to the thread, a comparison of a 6-week period of posting activity (with positions relative to the first post, when available):

1.  1. Mike Evans                3071 (+189)
4.  2. Lothar of the Hill People 2579 (+529)
2.  3. Paul Lazax                2578 (+271)
5.  4. Eppic                     2362 (+462)
7.  5. Chrissaril                2243 (+517)
3.  6. Pandy                     2177 (+ 10)
6.  7. orc conquest              2091 (+278)
9.  8. sigmazero13               2023 (+409)
8.  9. Mike Zebrowski            1767 (+ 46)
10. 10. Trevelyan                1609 (+  7)

So in the last 6 weeks, 4 of the FFG SuperGods (1000+ posts) have become UltraGods (2000+ posts).  And, of course, one person has become an ÜberGod (3000+ posts).  [All ranks courtesy of GMO, who figured that a person with 3000 posts ought to have achieved something more than someone with 500.  How about it, FFG?  Can we get new ranks instituted?]

And the new gods:

64. dsortj        506
65. Olmestig      501
66. GMO (!)       501
67. Richimed      499 (poundin' on the door)
68. Beri          496 (knockin' at the door)

I've already got the honorary "Rex Magnifica" which is unique to the boards and not attainable any other way than being "knighted" by an FFG administrator.  I feel privileged enough!

Though I certainly wouldn't turn down another title, if one were accessible.

Looks like I'd better get my post count up or I'll be eclipsed in no time!  Better go flame Marco some more...   [smiley=evil.gif]

Because Ophidian demanded it, here's another six-week update to this post count thread.  The three numbers before a person's name are, in order: position January 22, position March 5, position April 20.  The numbers after a person's name are, in order: total posts, posts since March 5, posts since January 22.

4.  2.  1. Lothar of the Hill People 3194 (615) (1144)    ÜberGod
1.  1.  2. Mike Evans                3119 ( 48) ( 237)    ÜberGod
5.  4.  3. Eppic                     2917 (555) (1017)   UltraGod
2.  3.  4. Paul Lazax                2893 (315) ( 586)   UltraGod
7.  5.  5. Chrissaril                2581 (338) ( 855)   UltraGod
6.  7.  6. orc conquest              2276 (185) ( 463)   UltraGod
9.  8.  7. sigmazero13               2258 (235) ( 644)   UltraGod
3.  6.  8. Pandy                     2178 (  1) (  11)   UltraGod
--  --  9. Murph                     1857                SuperGod
8.  9. 10. Mike Zebrowski            1794 ( 27) (  73)   SuperGod

That makes 2 ÜberGods (1 new) and 6 UltraGods.  The lowest-ranking SuperGod is down at number 35: caillin.  The lowest-ranking God is number 76: Bighab.

And I'm in the top 50 now!  Number 49, up from 66 at the last survey.  Just a couple hundred away from SuperGod (also known as Get a Life Club)...

Tried this earlier today in a crowded place...

And guess what? Nobody cared about me. Now that is magic...

Guess if I'd play all my A Game of Thrones email games by posting here on the board, I was an Über-God by now - easily ;D

All my posts were done in regular (discussion) threads, ok there were some rants too :P

Doesnt that qualify for some special ranking ?

I do support the petition to have some more ranks though and not everyone being a FFG God after 500 posts. I'll make it a support+1 if need be ;)

Yeah, the ranks on this forum is utter boring. I was on the band Poets of the Fall forum some days ago, and now that was a lot of hilarious rankings!  ;D

Because it's about that time again, here is the most updated ranking of the top posters:

2.  1.  1. Lothar of the Hill People 3612 (+418)     Elder God
4.  3.  2. Eppic                     3442 (+525)     Elder God
5.  5.  3. Chrissaril                3404 (+823)     Elder God
1.  2.  4. Mike Evans                3359 (+240)     Elder God
3.  4.  5. Paul Lazax                3260 (+367)     Elder God
7.  6.  6. orc conquest              2639 (+360)     Elder God
8.  7.  7. sigmazero13               2601 (+343)     Elder God
--  9.  8. Murph                     2200 (+343)     Elder God
6.  8.  9. Pandy                     2185 (+  7)     Elder God
--  -- 10. Ugluk                     1964             Über God

Congrats to Ugluk for breaking into the top 10.  PsiComa's knocking on the door just 40 posts behind.  Give these guys a couple of months and "Pandy" (not on the TI3 boards) will be booted off the Top 10 altogether, making it all TI3, all the time.

Biggest news since the last update is the new ranks.  Here are the current stats on our gods:

Elder Gods:  9
Über Gods:  33
Gods:       53

Keep an eye out for these fast risers, who are pushing Über God status in just a few months:

Umpapa2      969
darkflame    872
The Sleeper  854
XLII         838

These are the only four members in the top 100 that have registered this year.

As for me, I've moved up to number 42, up from number 49 three months ago.  And the newest Über God (also known as the Get a Life Club).

Pandy played Jol-Nar in the Centrifugal Force PBEM game last summer. The game was fairly quick lasting only 3 months or so to completion.

Last summer = before I ever heard about TI3.  :)

I wonder if Corey actually put in a rank for 4000+...?  I'm sure Lothar will let us know when he gets there.

Because I only do this whenever I hit a new milestone, let's update this list:

1.  1.  1. Lothar of the Hill People 4407 (+795)     Great Old One
5.  3.  2. Chrissaril                4187 (+783)     Great Old One
3.  2.  3. Eppic                     3763 (+321)     Great Old One
2.  4.  4. Mike Evans                3344 (- 15)     Great Old One
4.  5.  5. Paul Lazax                3290 (+ 30)     Great Old One
6.  6.  6. orc conquest              2891 (+252)     Elder God
7.  7.  7. sigmazero13               2791 (+190)     Elder God
--  10.  8. Ugluk                     2576 (+612)     Elder God
--  11.  9. PsiComa                   2473 (+549)     Elder God
9.  8. 10. Murph                     2265 (+ 65)     Elder God

Congrats to PsiComa for breaking into the top 10.  With his "Call of Valor" tournament going on, he may climb a few more spots before it's all said and done.  Knocking on the door:

12. redscare     1912
14. Mordred24    1857
15. bismark66    1854

Here are the current stats on our gods:

Great Old Ones: 5
Elder Gods:     6
Über Gods:     38
Gods:          42

Congrats to the newest Über God:
49. possumman   1039

And we've definitely lost some posts somewhere; the total number of gods is down from 95 to 91.  This is most evident in the fact that Mike Evans' post count has gone down.

As for me:

49. 42. 25. GMO        1500

Darn.

Do you think you could extend that list all the way down to around 500 posts?

The problem with my posts per day is that I had the account for a while, but I did not post anything but just read over a few posts when interesting things came up.

If I had created a new account when I started posting I probably would be around 3 or 4 posts per day... :'(

You want to know what is sad. I can count how many posts I gained since the last board crash since that is when I started my first PBeM GMing.

Before 9/2/07, I had 342 posts. This just put me at 2087. The fact is, I have gained 1745 posts in 64 days. That is on average 27.267 posts per day!

19 PBeMs and GMing 3 games and 1 in the near future will do that to a guy though.

I can't even fit Gotterdammerung2 into the bottom of my sig.

Just create a TI3Wiki page with your information (like http://www.ti3wiki.org/index.php?title=User:IqAndreas, or in your case http://www.ti3wiki.org/index.php?title=User:Beren_Erchamion or whatever your TI3Wiki name is) and link it in your sig.

And there's 3001!

Yeah, for as much as you comment within the threads of the Valor games, you won't have any trouble keeping pace with the top guys (Lothar, Chris, and Eppic).

And part of what's so impressive about your point total is the relatively small percentage that is PBeM specific.  You are crazy prolific on this board, whereas most totals are significantly padded by games.

2.  3.  3. Eppic                     4436  (+673)     Great Old One
11.  9.  4. Psi Neversleeping         3820 (+1347)     Great Old One
--   --  5. Crazy Beren               3452(~+1600)     Great Old One
4.  4.  6. Mike Evans                3444  (+100)     Great Old One
5.  5.  7. Paul Lazax                3304  (+ 14)     Great Old One
7.  7.  8. sigmazero13               3172  (+381)     Great Old One
6.  6.  9. orc conquest              3089  (+198)     Great Old One
10.  8. 10. Ugluk                     2957  (+381)     Elder God

Most noteworthy observations here: the rapid rises of Psi Neversleeping (PsiComa) and Crazy Beren (Beren_Erchamion).

Psi, always a frequent contributor, has really accelerated here in the last couple months with his Call of Valor tournament and thread.

And Beren has gone, well, crazy.  Bear in mind that these figures are for the past two months.  Two months!  We have on record that he hit post 2001 on 11/4/07, a mere seven weeks ago.   At this pace, he will eclipse Lothar by March.  In fact, so will Psi.

Also worth noting:

11. darkflame    2525
12. bnorton916   2440
14. Mordred24    2155

Mordred deserves some attention here for his remarkable consistency.  When I first compiled this list nearly a year ago, he was #15.  Since then, he has always been in the top 15, though never in the top 10 (thanks to rapid ascensions from the likes of Ugluk, Psi, Beren, and a few others who have since faded somewhat).

Heh.. made it to Uber God status early this morning.. just too late for the count =).

I thought I was going quickly, but it looks like Shakkar is on a faster pace than I.

I agree, I got burnt out when I was doing 5-10 posts per day.
Now I'm down to a few posts per week.
